Know when to pray — with the sun and the moon — honestly, and entirely on your device.
Sakan tells you when to pray, and tracks the sun and moon — with maximal configurability, verifiable honesty, and zero data leakage. Nothing else: no Qibla clutter, no articles, no social anything.
Exact alarms via setExactAndAllowWhileIdle, re-armed on every fire, reboot, and timezone change — reliable through Doze and OEM battery killers.
A day-track and a sky-arc, plus a moon-phase disc drawn from illumination math (never a stock image), moonrise/set with the next-event rule, distance, and the next four phases.
13 calculation methods, madhab, high-latitude rules, per-prayer ± minutes, Hijri offset, and the Umm al-Qura Ramadan +30 'Ishā' rule. Sane regional defaults, never forced.
All computation runs on-device. A 211-city offline gazetteer, manual coordinates, and one-shot GPS. An optional operator relay adds independent verification — but the app never needs it.
Prayer times from the audited adhan library; sun & moon from a vendored, built-from-source astronomy engine — both wrapped behind our own interfaces and golden-tested against known values.
No ads, analytics, trackers, crash reporters, Firebase, or GMS — ever. The offline build ships with no INTERNET permission at all.
These times are calculated, not witnessed. Prayer times in Islam are defined by observable phenomena — dawn, the sun's zenith, shadow lengths, sunset, and twilight. Sakan computes high-precision astronomical approximations of those phenomena. Scholars differ on how some of them (especially true dawn and the end of twilight) map to solar angles, and conditions at your location can shift the observable reality by several minutes.
Where a reliable local authority, mosque timetable, or scholarly body publishes times for your area, their guidance takes precedence over this app. Sakan takes no position on the angle debate — it exposes every parameter and defers. The full calculation chain is open source and documented; you are invited to scrutinize it.
Sakan is distributed as a sideload APK. Because it isn't from the Play Store, Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser.
